Bluff Knoll Ski Club HQ – Camp Lounge

The spot where you swap stories of your climb up Bluff Knoll and adventures to Mt Toolbrunup, Mt Hassell, Mt Trio, Mt Talyuberlup and Mt Magog….. of snow on Bluff Knoll and stunning sunrises from our mountain peaks.

This indoor/outdoor camp lounge with a lovely cosy wood heater provides shelter from cooler nights. Also, it’s a wonderful place to relax during the day. The lounge has a long history and has been lovingly restored from an old mine site and local farm.

The wood heater in the lounge has been designed from recycled tractor brake drums by Richard ‘The Bear’ Hoar. Firewood is supplied from the farm as we work, it’s picked, cut and stacked by us to keep you warm whilst you are here.

Hot Clean Showers & Flushing Toilets

Toilets and Hot Clean Showers are the little luxury you need after a mountain walk.

We harvest all our water from rain events throughout the year as we are not on a mains water supply. Please use water wisely!

There are disabled facilities with a baby change table.

Power is available for hairdryers etc.

Laundry

Water is at a premium but if you get stuck our basic laundry has a washing machine for your use. The cost is $5 per wash. Washing powder supplied.

Open Fire

A central fireplace adjacent to the Camp Kitchen and Ski Club Lounge is provided for the enjoyment of all campers during winter*.

Here, many yarns are swapped over a glass of red wine, friends are made, impromptu sing-a-longs and poetry recitals occur as the kids toast their marshmallows.

A fire pit is also provided for those that wish to cook on the hot coals.*

We pick, cut and stack the firewood.

We have a fire permit for a central fireplace in the winter months. No private fires are allowed as we border the National Park.

*Subject to fire restrictions. Depending on weather conditions and fire permits the season usually runs from Easter to mid-October.

Table Tennis / Information Room

Table Tennis – many friendly (and competitive) table tennis seasons have been held at Mt Trio. We have bats and balls for your use..

Mountain Walks & Guided Wildflower Orchid Walks

The Aboriginal name for the Stirling Range, Koi Kyenunu-ruff, meaning ‘mist rolling around the mountains is a frequently seen occurrence in this amazing range of mountains.

Walk trails are marked on most of the mountains in the Range and are a showcase of fauna, birdlife, geology and flora, including incredible seasonal orchids and beautiful wildflowers.

Maps and information on mountain walks is available @ StirlingRangeTrails.com.au and in our Table Tennis/Information Room.

During September and October, Guided Wildflower Orchid Walks operate daily and leave the camp lounge at 8.30am. Bookings are essential. These walks are graded ‘easy’ and explore the surrounding bushland.

Over 100 species of orchids have been discovered over the years.

You can identify all the orchids you have seen during your ‘spring walk’ – an ID picture chart by our local guide/photographer Jarrad Dawson, is on display in the Table Tennis/Information Room.

Bookings essential for Guided Wildflower Orchid Walks
